As we mentioned earlier, most liver diseases, damage and problems are caused by a lack of proper nutrition, particularly when excessive alcohol is consumed. Those aren't the only ways liver problems occur though, and it's important for you to know some of the others, as well as some ways you can prevent getting specific types of liver diseases too.

Liver diseases can be caught from viral infections, and harmful bacteria and parasites within your body. They can also be caught through sexual transmission, intervaneous needle usages, certain environmental poisons, medications which are harmful to the liver, nutritional deficiencies, and injuries or trauma.
Some ways you can help prevent more common communicable liver diseases is to practice safe sex, proper hygeine, and take care when travelling to other places. When visiting other countries for instance, the public water system may not be filtered for bacteria and germs well enough to prevent diseases, ot it's usually best to not drink unfiltered tap water in those areas.
Cleaning your hands well after using the bathroom or changing a baby's diaper is very important too, as is proper hygeine in general. Avoiding the use of illegal drugs will help you avoid potential problems with injection needles, and limiting your use of alcohol will help prevent liver damage that leads to serious diseases as well. Avoid sharing personal hygeine items too such as nail clippers and razors.
Also be sure to get the best nutrition you can, and use herbal or vitamin nutrition supplements if you're diet doesn't meet at least the minimum daily nutrition requirements. Where possible, try to avoid toxic substances and chemicals, and only use medications as directed and as needed.
Some liver diseases are congenital though. This means children are born with the problems due to genetic defects or hereditary problems.
Liver problems can also be caused by metabolic disorders in the body too. If your body isn't able to utilize vitamins and mineral properly for instance, this can cause liver problems. There are people who are unable to process iron properly in their body for instance, or zinc, and these can cause liver damage and disease.
Your best defense against most liver problems though, is to help your body be as healthy and strong as possible. When you have plenty of vitamins and minerals on a daily basis for instance, your body's immune system becomes very strong and healthy, and this allows it to help fight off any potential liver problems that might otherwise develop.
