Hemorrhoids 3

Besides changing your dietary habits, other things that will help reduce and eliminate hemorrhoid problems include weight loss and exercise. If you're overweight or obese, that excess body weight puts strain on your anal muscles, and this strain can cause the vein swelling and inflammation. Losing as little as ten pounds can make a big difference for most hemorrhoid sufferers.

Exercise is another method which helps relieve constipation that most people don't know of. By exercising your body, you also exercise the colon, and this in turn can help move waste through your system more efficiently. Simply walking for about 30 minutes several times each week, you can often relieve chronic constipation problems.

If your hemorrhoids are caused by sitting or standing all day, the primary remedy you'll need is movement. Try changing your position every hour or so, and if possible: Stand or sit for a few moments. If you usually sit at a desk all day for instance, standing up and walking around for a few moments each hour will help relieve the pressure that causes the hemorrhoids, and stimulate circulation to your anal areas.

While taking steps to prevent or relieve hemorrhoids, you can also use a variety of home and herbal remedies to help deal with the immediate symptoms. If you suffer from external hemorrhoids particularly, you may experience itching, burning, pain, and tenderness. For some people it is difficult to sit still because no position feels good, or because they're experiencing severe itching.

A simple herb called Witch Hazel gives quick soothing relief to the common symptoms experienced with external hemorrhoids. Witch hazel usually relieves itching and burning, and can help shrink the hemorrhoids too.

Many over the counter creams and ointments have a bit of witch hazel in them, but using the pure herb gives the best results.

Mixing either white willow or white oak bark with aloe vera juice works wonderfully as well. This combination relieves the pain, burning and itching sensations, plus shrinks the hemorrhoids quickly. Often using this combination just once can keep the problems at bay for weeks.

There are also several herbs which can be used as stool softeners and laxatives. These tend to be much more gentle on your system than over the counter medications are, and they're not habit forming.

Slippery Elm is one herb which will help normalize the stools, and is quite useful for both diarhea or constipation problems. And Cascara Sagrada is an herbal laxative which works well at helping the bowels move when you're constipated.
